George Mendenhall Clarkson

George Mendenhall Clarkson, age 80 of Wilmington Island died Wednesday, January 13, 2010.
Mr. Clarkson was born in Cincinnati, OH on May 2, 1929, the son of the late George Buchanan and Dorothea Mae Mendenhall Clarkson. He was a graduate of Miami University of Oxford, OH. George was a veteran of the United States Army and was a retired Business Executive of Continental Field Machining. He had been a resident of Wilmington Island since 1979 when he and his family moved from Arlington Heights, IL. He was known for his love of gardening and landscape design and was active in the Master Gardeners Association.
Mr. Clarkson was preceded in death by his daughter, Melanie Clarkson of Pasadena, CA. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Carol Fertig Clarkson; daughter, Cheryl Clarkson of Boston, MA; grandchildren, Danielle and Drew Clarkson-Townsend of Boston, MA and brother, James D. Clarkson of Manila, Phillipines.
